The Garden Route
Starting in Mossel Bay in the Western Cape and stretching to Storms River, the Garden Route is named for the ecologically diverse vegetation that occurs in this region. Towns located along the route include Mossel Bay, Knysna, Oudtshoorn, Plettenberg Bay, Nature’s Valley and George.
This picturesque area boasts a number of magnificent beaches and when venturing further inland, visitors can expect to find beautiful lagoons, lakes, rolling hills and finally, the mountains of the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma range.
The hiking trails in the area offer perfect locations for picnics and if you love whale watching, visit the whale lookout and you may be lucky to see Humpback Whales playing in the ocean. For a treat, take the family on a scenic hike in the beautiful Goukamma Nature Reserve or drive to Storms River Mouth and explore the Tstitsikamma Nature Reserve.
Golf In The Garden Route
The Garden Route with its mild climate and incredible scenery is considered a golfer’s paradise. Home to the famous Fancourt Country Club Estate (one of South Africa’s Top Ten Golf Courses), it is a popular location for golfing trips. Enthusiasts will relish the opportunity to tee off at courses like Goose Valley, Kingswood, Knysna Golf Club, Mossel Bay Golf Club, Oubaai, Pezula, Pinnacle Point, Plettenberg Bay, Simola, Stilbaai and both the Outeniqua and The Links at Fancourt.
